The Direction générale de l' aviation civile ( DGAC ) to German French General Directorate of Civil Aviation, (comparable to the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt in Germany ), the French Authority for Civil Aviation with headquarters in Issy -les -Moulineaux, a suburb of Paris. It is subordinate to the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, and Sustainable Development ( MEDDE ). It is responsible in particular for various functions relating to civil aviation, such as for:
- The air traffic control
- Support research and development in the field of aircraft
- The classification of aircraft
- Prevention; the DGAC not only ensures the safety of people, but also for the reduction of environmental damage caused by air traffic, who is responsible
- Representatives of the DGAC sit on the Steering Committee of the Groupe d' études et d'informations sur les phénomènes aérospatiaux non Identifies ( GEIPAN to German Study Group for information about unidentified air and space phenomena )
The DGAC has been founded in 1946.
