Geography

The easternmost municipality of the state is located in the northeastern foothills Egautal of the Swabian Alb, and adjoins the Baden-Württemberg Ostalb and the Bavarian districts of Dillingen and Donau-Ries.

Community structure

The municipality Oberdischingen the districts ( neighborhoods ) Ballmertshofen include ( Residential District II), Demmingen ( Residential District III), Oberdischingen ( Residential District I), Dunstelkingen ( Residential District IV), Eglingen ( Residential District V), Frickingen ( Residential District VI) and Trugenhofen ( residential district VII) which are identical to the previously independent municipalities. The official designation of the districts is done by preceding the name of the community and by a hyphen adjusted separately the name of the districts. The districts also form residential districts and, with the exception of the district Oberdischingen villages within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat. In the villages themselves, with the exception of the village Ballmertshofen the loggerhead part of site selection is applied according to which villages are therefore also divided into residential districts. The village Demmingen consists of the residential districts Demmingen and Wagenhofen, the resort Dunstelkingen consists of the residential districts Dunstelkingen and Mayrhofen, the town Eglingen consists of the residential districts Eglingen and Osterhofen, the resort Frickingen consists of the residential districts Frickingen, Katzenstein and Iggenhausen and the resort Trugenhofen is from the residential districts Trugenhofen and lock taxis.

In the community Oberdischingen are 17 villages, hamlets, farms and houses. The hamlet Ballmertshofen include the village Ballmertshofen and the house centimes mill and the dialed villages Buebertshausen and Buchenmuhle. The hamlet Demmingen include the village Demmingen ( with the former castle Demmingen ), the hamlet Wagenhofen and Castle and homestead Duttenstein and the dialed -up areas ( upper, middle ) Köpfingen, Merlishausen, Forest Brother house and " Old Castle ". The hamlet Oberdischingen include the village Oberdischingen, the hamlet Schrezheim, the homestead Hochstatter yard and the house Guldesmühle and dialed villages Knoll castle with the castle stables of the Castle Knoll castle, Hasenhof, Riedmühle, Russelhof, Spiegelhof and remains of a castle on the Eisbühl. For the district of the village Dunstelkingen Dunstelkingen, the hamlet of Mayrhofen and the homestead Prince mill include (Book Bergmühle ) and the Outbound village Raithof. History

Oberdischingen was first mentioned in documents in 1049. In the Middle Ages Oberdischingen belonged to the county of Dillingen. As Dillinger became extinct in 1258, the county fell to the Wittelsbach family. After the Landshut War of Succession the Principality of Pfalz- Neuburg 1505 formed, which included Oberdischingen. 1734 succeeded the Prince of Thurn and Taxis, get Oberdischingen in their rule. As part of the mediatization Oberdischingen fell to Bavaria in 1806 and came within a field exchange 1810 to Württemberg.

Religions

Oberdischingen has remained untouched by the Reformation and remained Roman Catholic. Today it belongs to the Catholic Deanery Heidenheim in the Diocese of Rottenburg- Stuttgart. The evangelical believers belong to the parish mite Home Oberdischingen in the church district of Heidenheim.

Partnerships

The community established a partnership in 1990 to the municipality Eckartsberg in Saxony. After Eckartsberg was incorporated in 1994 after Mittelherwigsdorf, the partnership there has passed.

Traffic

The nearest links to the motorway 7 (AS 116, Heidenheim ) is 12 km away. From 1901 to 1972 Oberdischingen by the Härtsfeldbahn ( Aalen- Dillingen ) was connected to the railway network.

Education

With the Egauschule Oberdischingen has a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. There are also in Demmingen and Frickingen each primary school. For the smallest population there is in Ballmertshofen, Demmingen, Oberdischingen, Dunstelkingen, Eglingen and Frickingen ever a kindergarten.
