Life
The Canadian Woods made his film debut in 1928; but only six years later, he turned his second film. In the same year he made his breakthrough by starring with Bette Davis in William Dieterle's fog over Frisco. For most of his career, he starred in B- movies, there are about a dozen exceptions, especially from the early days of his career as the elaborate escape from Paris (1935 ), where he was occupied in a good supporting role as the lover of Elizabeth Allan as well as with Anthony Adverse (1936 ), another history strip, where he held a starring role as March's banker friend next to Olivia de Havilland and Fredric March; and the war film Watch on the Rhine ( 1943).
Towards the end of his career, Woods was seen with a few exceptions such as The Marshal almost exclusively in B- movies and on television. Here are series like Bonanza, 77 Sunset Strip and Hawaiian Eye mentioned. But in 1984 he ended his acting career. Woods died on 5 March 1998 at the age of 91 years in California. He and his childhood friend Josephine from the Horck had since 1933 - been married - so for 66 years. They had two children.
