Dorothea Wierer

Dorothea Wierer ( born April 3, 1990 in Brunico, South Tyrol) is an Italian biathlete.

Life

Dorothea Wierer lives in Niederrasen and is coached by Alex Inderst and their technology coach Manuel Tovagliari. The third of five children attended the Sports High School in times and placed there in 2009 from a high school. Since then she has worked in the Finance Guard. With the sport of biathlon she began at the age of ten years, in 2006 they moved to the Italian national team on. Since 2010 she is a member of the B- team. Since the 2007/ 08 Wierer first started in Italiencup, later in the European Cup for Juniors. In the following season, also races of the Alpine Cup were added. In Martell she took in 2007 at their first junior world championships. With a tenth place in individual, 16th place in the sprint and 14 in the pursuit and a tenth place in the relay Wierer achieved good results. Even better, the results were at the Junior World Championships 2008 in Ruhpolding, where the Italian won the singles title, Eighth of the sprint and pursuit was 21. With Alexia Runggaldier and Monika Messner she also won the bronze medal behind the representations from Germany and Norway. At the Junior Championship 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě the ranks of 17 26 came in the individual, sprint and five in the relay added. In Canmore Wierer met again successful at the Junior World Championships and won the title in the tracking after they have missed out on fourth place in the sprint just a medal. With Nicole Gontier and Runggaldier they also again won the bronze medal in the relay race. In individual they came in at number seven. In Torsby the Italian In 2010, for the fourth time at a Junior World Championships in part, won no medals this time, yet again reached good results. In individual they came to sixth place, was 13th in the sprint and pursuit of the Eleventh.

For the 2008/09 season Wierer debut at the Women in the power range. Your first race she contested here in Obertilliach IBU Cup and won as a Single Page 34 and 21 of a sprint once first points. There she became the first leg of the Italian season at the side of Gontier, Ponza and Oberhofer surprising bronze and thus the first medal for an Italian women's relay at the biathlon World Cup.
