Drehnow
Drehnow, Lower Drjenow, is a municipality of the Office Peitz in the district of Spree -Neisse in Brandenburg.

Geography
The municipality is located in the traditional settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends. Through the meadow area south of the community to flow in a westerly direction, the Malxe and Hammergraben.
History
The first mention Drehnows was 1635, but already in 1400 the town name was mentioned. The word " dren " means red dogwood and points to the early settlement of the Sorbs / Wends. The village was located to the Thirty Years' War to a shallow sand ridge near the Malxe. Due to the constant threat of flooding after the actual village was about 500 m northeast created by the previous location. The former site was used for agricultural purposes. Drehnow belonged until 1832 to the Peitz and 1832-1874 to the Official Cottbus.

The municipal council consists of eight community representatives.

Community partnership
Since 15 February 2000, there is a partnership with the Polish community Ochla near Zielona Góra.
Culture and sights
In the list of monuments in Drehnow and in the list of ground monuments in Drehnow are registered in the list of monuments of the country Brandenburg monuments. The town's landmark is the wooden belfry, built in 1898, on which a cross and a chalice are. The bell tower was built because Drehnow had no church of its own and was unable to hear the bells of the church in Peitz in Drehnow.
Regular events
Each year the Zapust / Fastnacht, the rooster plucking in the first week in September and the Kermuscha / fair is organized in the first week in February.
