Dvorníky-Včeláre

Dvorníky - Včeláre (Hungarian Méhészudvarnok ) is a small town in eastern Slovakia with a population of 439 (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The 13.63 km ² large double municipality Dvorníky - Včeláre lies in the broad valley of the Turňa in the extreme southwest of Okres Košice - okolie. In the northern town of Slovak Karst comes close to the Turňatal, in the South is a long and narrow mountain spur as an offshoot of the Aggtelek Karst - the border with Hungary. While the primarily agricultural valley floor is about 200 m above the sea, reached the wooded ridge to the Hungarian border 440 m, which is also wooded foothills of the Slovak Karst in the northwest exceed nearly 600 -m contour line. Dvorníky, the larger of the two villages located in the north, the smaller Včeláre in the southwest of the municipality brain area. Just south of Včeláre the 100 meter-high rock face of a limestone fracture is piling up; west of Dvorníky stands the striking hilltop of Zemné Hradisko.

Neighboring communities of Dvorníky - Včeláre are Zádiel in the north, Turňa Bodvou in the east, in the southeast Hosťovce, Hidvégardó (Hungary ) in the south, Tornanádaska (Hungary ) in the southwest, Hrhov in the west and Bôrka in the northwest.

History

The church in its present form is still relatively young. It was formed in 1990 from the existing community since 1964 Zádielske Dvorníky when the village Zádiel was removed from the community and since then is again an independent municipality.

Dvorníky

Dvorníky was first mentioned in 1314 as Udvarniky documented. Finds of pottery shards in the area around Dvorníky, however, show that there was already settled in the Neolithic period. From the second half of the 13th century the inhabitants Dvorníkys and other surrounding villages subjects of the lords of the castle Tornau (municipality Turňa Bodvou ) were. 1567 were counted ten Hungarian -speaking farmers and wine-growing families in 1828 had already Dvorníky 89 houses.

Včeláre

Včeláre was first mentioned in 1345 as Mehes ( ungarisxch for beekeepers ) and was already inhabited mainly by Hungarians. From the 14th to the 16th century, the village was owned by residents of the surrounding noble families. 1598 were counted six farmhouses, in 1828 there were 25 houses.

After the First Vienna Award also Dvorníky and Včeláre belonged from 1938 to 1945 the Hungarian county Abaúj.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Dvorníky - Včeláre 445 inhabitants, of which 68.1 % Hungarians and Slovaks 31.5%. 80.1 % of residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church.

Economy and infrastructure

The community has retained its rural character. The residents work in agriculture, services or commute to nearby industrial plants. The village has a grocery store, a library, a kindergarten and a primary school. The largest employer in the community is but a building materials company, which was established in the early 1960s in the southeast of the municipal area. Its towers, silos, conveyor belts and piles are visible for miles. The product range of the company until today include cement, concrete precast elements and mixtures for road construction. The operation provided the conditions for the construction of the East Slovakian Steelworks ( Východoslovenské Železiarne, now U.S. Steel Košice ). When in 1965 the first blast furnace was blown in, and the slab of the working-class town Šaca emerged from the finished parts of the building operations near the steel plant. Raw material for the production is limestone, which is mined, among other things in the immediately south of Včeláre quarry.

Transport links

The running in the east-west direction Turňatal was predestined for nationally significant transport routes to and from Košice the plant since time immemorial. To pass through the territory of the municipality Dvorníky - Včeláre the Highway 50 (also part of the European Route 58) from Košice to Bratislava Rožňava and the railway line Košice - Barca Rožňava.
