Earls Court Exhibition Centre

The Earls Court Exhibition Centre ( known as the Earls Court Arena also ) is a multi-purpose hall in West London. It is located on the border between the two London boroughs Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham.

Earls Court One

The hall was built on a plot of land where previously the Earls Court Exhibition Ground had found. This plot had the entrepreneur John Robinson Whitley 1887 developed and built an exhibition hall and an open-air arena with gardens, pavilions and other facilities. 1935 began the construction of the hall, which was to become the largest indoor arena in Europe at that time. However, it soon became clear that the plans in this form could not be satisfied because the building would exceed the scheduled budget far.

On September 1, 1937, Earls Court, as the hall is colloquially called, opened for the international chocolate and confectionery exhibition. The Motor Show and other vehicle exhibitions soon followed. The cost of building this hall, which is often referred to as Earls Court One ultimately amounted to 1.5 million pounds.

Earls Court Two

As a result of the enormous lack of space due to the numerous stresses of the hall in 1991 a second hall, Earls Court Two, completed on the grounds of the Earl's Court Exhibition Centre. The use area of ​​this hall is 17,000 square and cost about 100 million pounds. Earls Court Two was opened as part of the Motor Fair on October 17, 1991 by Princess Diana.

As part of a 20 -year plan for the development of the district, the halls will be demolished, as was announced in July 2013. At this point new homes are to be built.
