Ebergötzen

Ebergötzen is a municipality and the administrative headquarters of the velvet municipality in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony Radolfshausen ( Germany ).

Known the place is mainly because Wilhelm Busch lived there most of his school years. The mill, which plays a central role in Max and Moritz, belonged to the father of his friend Erich Bachmann.

Geographical location

Ebergötzen lies about 15 km east of Göttingen on the B 27 via Gieboldehausen to Herzberg. To Ebergötzen through which a portion of the floodplain ( western tributary of the wallow ) flows, a part of the Holzerode about 5 km away.

History

The first written mention of the village is to be found in a fake certificate of Henry II from the year 1013 or 1022 Euergoteshem. While the place name ends in the oldest documents on " home ", the ending will change later on " live ", often shortened to " sen ". On maps of the 18th century, a second settlement area of the floodplain is opposite the settlement shifted along the Herzberger road south already be seen; the Office Radolfshausen with the former water castle was separated by green areas from the eastern site. Former Amtshof Radolfshausen

West of Ebergötzen was the place Radolfshausen, which was probably around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries to deserted village. End of the 14th century Vorwerk Radolfshausen is mentioned in a document that was in the possession of the Lords of Plesse since 1437. This built the Barbican in 1508 to a water castle, whose main building was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Wilhelm Busch Mill

The Wilhelm -Busch- Mill is a museum furnished water mill with overshot water wheel. In addition to the food grinder and the upper mill, this listed heritage building is as low mill or Herrnmühle the third mill in Ebergötzen. The two-storey timber-framed building with pitched roof was probably erected in the 18th century and restored late 20th century. Ev. Church of St. Cosmas and Damian

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Cosmas and Damian is at the heart Straße.
