"What happened in Roswell on July 5, 1947, is the truth. My friends who then witnessed the events firsthand and are now long dead, have told me the truth. A state secret organization to maintain confidentiality of these incidents continues to work successfully on the concealment of this most important event in the history of mankind. "

" 500 years ago, the astronomer Copernicus was condemned as a heretic because he claimed that the Earth was not the center of the universe. This is now obsolete. But nowadays, believes the majority of us still believe that the human race is the biological center of the universe. We will not accept so long that intelligent life exists beyond Earth, until we collide when shopping with an alien. "

"If we go to Mars - and we will - it would be silly herunterzublicken on the earth, and to say: I came from the United States of America, Germany, France, Britain or Israel. We come from the earth! And we are not yet ripe. "

" The parapsychological research is a challenge that can not avoid longer science. [ ... ] It is perhaps an important element in the long-sought formula to enrich the human consciousness, the remodeling of the Company and generally to assist nature by the monumental work of evolution. "

Edgar Mitchell is one of the first signatories of the call for a Parliamentary Assembly at the United Nations, which will be a first step to a world parliament.

After retiring from NASA Mitchell has strongly addressed esoteric topics and their research. Repeats Mitchell has also expressed to the UFO phenomenon and thereby represent the alien hypothesis. As the source of his knowledge Mitchell does not mention any names, but speaks only of contacts that he had because of his astronaut career in military circles as well as due to its origin from Roswell (see Roswell incident ).

Edgar Mitchell took the view that it had already come several times to contacts with extraterrestrial species and humans, but this would be subject to a variety of reasons by governments of secrecy. 2001 Mitchell supported an initiative for Exopolitics, the Disclosure Project.
