Edwin Byrne

Edwin Vincent Byrne ( born August 9, 1891 in Philadelphia, USA, † July 25, 1963 ) was Archbishop of Santa Fe.

Life

Edwin Vincent Byrne received on 22 May 1915 the archbishop of Philadelphia, Edmond Francis Prendergast, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On June 23, 1925, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Bishop of Ponce. The archbishop of Philadelphia, Denis Joseph Cardinal Dougherty, donated to him on November 30th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Wheeling, John Joseph Swint, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton, Andrew James Louis Brennan. Pius XI. appointed him on 8 March 1929 Bishop of San Juan de Puerto Rico.

On June 12, 1943, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Archbishop of Santa Fe.
