Egil Johansen (musician)

Egil Johansen ( born January 11, 1934 in Oslo, † December 4, 1998 in Kykoping ) was a Norwegian jazz drummer, composer, arranger and music teacher.

Life and work

Johansen, who was also known by his nickname Egil " Bop ", began his career as a musician at age 16, when he played in 1950 in Einar Stenberg's orchestra. He then worked in Egil Monn - Iversen's orchestra and in the experimental band by Kjell Johansen, where he remained from 1951 to 1953. In 1952, he played in Rowland Greenberg's orchestra. In 1954 he moved to the invitation of Simon Brehm to Sweden, where he worked with leading musicians of the jazz scene there as Arne Domnérus, Bengt Hallberg, Rune Gustafsson, Georg Riedel and Jan Johansson.
