Eirik Brandsdal

Eirik Brandsdal (born 11 November 1986) is a Norwegian cross-country skier.

Sporting career

At youth level Brandsdal was able to record any real success, so he also took part in any World Youth Championship. In the U23 World Cup 2006 in Kranj his best result was the eleventh place in the sprint competition. In the pursuit he finished 23rd place and was classic 35 over 15 kilometers. In the season 2006/ 07 he was able to convince several times in sprint competitions the Scandinavian Cup, after which he was first nominated for the Cross Country World Cup. In domestic Drammen, he stood as the 30th qualifying for the quarter- finals and won 29 of the Final Ranking as equal in his first World Cup points. The following year, he was able to walk again in the World Cup sprint in Drammen at the start and reached the semi-finals this time even. In the U23 World Cup in times he was second in the qualification of the sprint competition, but then separated already in the quarter- final. In the 2008 / 09 season, regular missions followed in the World Cup. In Valdidentro he won the qualifying and reached the final round, where he finished sixth and thus last place. Also in Lahti he could convince with eighth place. At the end of the season he was 29th overall in the Sprint Cup. His first start in the 2009/10 season had Brandsdal in Dusseldorf, where he was able to achieve a podium finish in his career for the first time. In the final he just had to Alexei Petukhov and Anders Gløersen beaten. The next day he was together with Gløersen this result still increase as they finished second behind the Russian duo Petukhov and Morilow.
