Elena Vodorezova

Jelena Germanowna Wodoresowa, married. Bujanowa (Russian: Елена Германовна Водорезова / Буянова; born May 21, 1963 in Moscow) is a former Russian figure skater who competed for the Soviet Union in a single run. Today she works as a trainer.

Career

Wodoresowa began four years ago with the figure skating. She trained at Stanislav Zhuk. In the years 1976, 1977, 1980, 1982 and 1983, she became Soviet champion. At the European Championships in 1978 in Strasbourg, she won the bronze medal behind Anett Pötzsch from the GDR and Dagmar Lurz from Germany. It was the first European Championship medal for a Soviet figure skater in a single run. At the European Championships in 1982 in Lyon, she won again bronze and 1983 in Dortmund, she was Vice - European Champion behind Katarina Witt. Their only World Cup medal she won bronze at the World Championship 1983 in Helsinki after the US-American Rosalynn Sumners and Claudia Leistner of West Germany. These medal was a first, because it was the first World Cup medal for a Soviet figure skater in a single run. Wodoresowa represented the Soviet Union at two Olympic Games. 1976 in Innsbruck she won at the age of only twelve years, the twelfth place in Sarajevo in 1984 she was eighth. From 1979 to 1981 she could hardly walk due to arthritis and thus missed the most tournaments in this period.

After the end of their active sports career, she has been a trainer in Moscow. Her students have included Elene Gedevanishvili, Olga Markova, Andrej Gryazev, Adelina Sotnikowa, Artem Borodulin, and Denis Ten.
