Emmanuel Boleslaus Ledvina

Emmanuel Boleslaw Ledvina ( born October 28, 1868 in Evansville, Indiana, † December 15, 1952 ) was an American clergyman and bishop of Corpus Christi.

Life

Mariano Simon Garriga received on March 18, 1893 Sacrament of Ordination for the diocese of Vincennes.

Pope Benedict XV. appointed him on 30 April 1921 the Bishop of Corpus Christi. He received his episcopal consecration of the Bishop of Indianapolis, Joseph Chartrand, on 14 June of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Alexandria, Cornelius Van de Ven, and the Bishop of Dallas, Joseph Patrick Lynch.

During his tenure, he continued the construction of the diocese. He took priest from the Midwest for the pastoral care of his diocese and built a large number of churches and chapels. In the summer of 1940 he consecrated the newly built cathedral. At his invitation, the Benedictines built from Subiaco an office in Corpus Christi.
