Ernesto Lamagna

Ernesto Lamagna (* 1945, Naples) is a contemporary Italian sculptor and painter. After classical studies, he was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, but lives and works since many years mainly in Rome.

Life

Lamagna was from 1998 to 2003 secretary of Sculpture of the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, and headed the sculpture class of employees employed in the pantheon of artists.

He is the creator of the Processional Way "Hammer and Cross", which was prepared for the year 2000 for the Great Jubilee of the Holy Year and is now in the treasury of the Vatican Museums.

Further work by Lamagna include the design of various Medals example, the completion of the twinning agreement between Paris and Rome in 1992 or the 25 - year pontificate of Pope John Paul II in 2003, also with the plastic Ecce mater dulcinesse.

Between 2004 and 2006 Lamagna created the sculptures for the " De Humanitat " exhibition in the European Parliament in Brussels. Since 2009 he works - under a quota the Italian military - as an art teacher for Afghan civilians in Herat, Afghanistan.

In the Italian cities of Rome, Turin and Milan, there are permanent exhibitions of works by Ernesto Lamagna.

Exhibitions

From the 1960s until the end of the 20th century at the invitation Lamagna showed his monumental bronze sculptures in their body of work in Germany, the Netherlands, France, England, the USA and Japan. He also took with sculptures - but also with a painting ( Quasimodo ) - in many Community exhibitions.
