William Ernest " Erny / Ernie " Pinckert ( born May 1, 1907 in Medford, Wisconsin, † August 30 1977 in Los Angeles, California ) was an US- American football player. He played in the National Football League ( NFL), among others, for the Washington Redskins.

Youth

Erny Pinckert was born the son of a derived from Saxony- Anhalt family in Medford. He had nine siblings. After moving his family he visited in San Bernardino, California, the High School, where he played fullback American football in the school team. In 1926 he was honored as the best high school football player from California.

Playing career

College

After finishing school Erny Pinckert studied at the University of Southern California. For the football team, the USC Trojans, he played as a halfback. Because of his athletic achievements, he was honored by his college in the years 1929 until 1931. In the years 1930 and 1931 elections to the All-American was. In 1930 he was able to move with his team for the first time in the Rose Bowl. Opponent was the team from the University of Pittsburgh, who was beaten the Trojans with 47:14. Pinckert succeeded in this game a touchdown. Two years later he again made nationwide attention. He played as a blocking back with his team again in the Rose Bowl, this time against the team from Tulane University. With two touchdowns, he contributed greatly to 21:12 victory of his team and was named after the game for Most Valuable Player.

NFL

In the year 1932, Pinckert the Boston Braves joined. The team was renamed the following year in Redskins. Before the 1937 season, the Redskins moved to Washington DC order. This season, Ray Flaherty took over the post of head coaches in the team. Furthermore, it could be tied to the team with Sammy Baugh one of the best quarterbacks of the NFL history. The Redskins won in this round during the regular season, eight out of eleven games, which earned a place in the NFL championship game. The counterparty in this game were those of George Halas supervised Chicago Bears, who had to leave with a 28:21 defeat the playing field. 1940 returned the favor then the Bears for this final defeat. The Redskins had from eleven games again qualified with nine wins for the final time and were able to defeat their enemies with 73:0. After this defeat Pinckert ended his professional career.

After the career

Erny Pinckert Following his career in California in the fashion industry. He was married and had three children. Ernest Pinckert is in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California buried.

Honors

Erny Pinckert was twice elected to the Pro Bowl and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, at the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame and in the USC Athletic Hall of Fame.
