Erwin Sietas

Erwin Sietas ( born July 24, 1910 in Hamburg, † July 20, 1989 in Hamburg ) was a German swimmer.

He swam for the Hamburg Swimming Club in 1879. Early thirties, he was among the world's top breaststroke swimmers and was in the Olympics in 1936 in Berlin behind Tetsuo Hamuro the silver medal over 200 m win chest. In 1934, he had already become European champion over this distance. At the German Championships of 1929, from 1932 to 1934 and 1937 he became German champion in the 200 m breaststroke. In addition to swimming, he was also active as a water polo player. In 1992 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
