Estadio Gran Canaria

The Estadio de Gran Canaria is a multi-purpose stadium, which is located in the Spanish city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria. It serves the football club UD Las Palmas as homestead.

History

The Gran Canaria Stadium in 2003, with a match between UD Las Palmas and RSC Anderlecht (2-1), officially opened, replacing the old, in 1949 opened the Estadio Insular. It offers 31,250 seats for visitors, making it the largest stadium in the Canary Islands. The stadium is as common in Spain, covered only in the main stand and also has an eight-lane track and field facility. The building has a bowl-like shape that is not only closed in the northern curve. There is also the large video display board. In the press box found 400 journalists place. In the building are 350 parking spaces available and around the stadium parking for an additional 5,000 cars. The equipment meets the requirements of the stadium of the football world governing body FIFA as well as the Athletics IAAF.

In the years 2005 to 2007, the freestyle motocross event "Freestyle Gran Canaria " in the sports facility was discharged. In 2008, the automobile race of the "Master Race Stadium " Estadio de Gran Canaria took place. For the interior of the stadium was temporarily paved (no grass).
