Ethelda Bleibtrey

Ethelda Bleibtrey ( born February 27, 1902 in Waterford, † May 6, 1978 in West Palm Beach ) was an American swimmer.

At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 it was three time Olympic gold medalist in swimming. She won 100 m freestyle relay, both in the individual disciplines 100 m and 300 m freestyle and the 4 ×. Thus, they won all possible gold medals, as in Antwerp no longer swimming competitions were held. Including the preliminary rounds, she swam five races and broke the world record every time.
