Faroe Islands women's national football team

The Faroese national football team of women representing the Football Association of the Faroe Islands in international women's football. In addition to the A- team there are a U- 19 and U -17. Most players come from the record champions KÍ Klaksvík.

Their first two games played the team in June 1986 in Iceland against the Icelandic national football team of women who lost with 0:6 and 0:2. After the 1988 FIFA joined FSF and the men in the same year completed official meetings, it came in the women only in 1995 in qualifying for the European Championship 1997 official matches. After which it took eight years until the next meeting other official national teams. Since 2004 Games are completed regularly again. However, the last official home game was played in 2004, since then the team plays solely abroad or on neutral courts.

On the qualification for the World Cup was waived until 2011. Greatest sporting achievements were the victories of the women's football tournament at the Games Iceland in the years 2001, 2003 and 2005.

Currently, the Färingerinnen are number 67 of the FIFA world rankings and 37 of the UEFA rankings for Europe ( at 13 December 2013). Best place was the 60th place in June 2009. 's Pre-qualification for the European Championship in 2013, the team finished the tournament in Malta the last group place, but was able to defeat the hosts 2-0.

In qualifying for the 2015 World Championships, the team had in the pre-qualification and peaked in the games in April 2013 at a tournament in Lithuania, a 3-3 draw with Montenegro, a 1-0 win over the hosts and a 2-1 win against Georgia and thus qualified for the actual qualification, which began in the fall of 2013. There the team met in the fall of 2013 for the first time in Sweden and Poland. In April 2014, in this context for the first game against Northern Ireland. Other opponents are Scotland and Bosnia and Herzegovina, against the Faroe Islands have already played before.
