Fatih Çakıroğlu

Fatih Çakiroglu ( born April 14, 1981 in Istanbul) is a Turkish wrestler and six-time medalist at the European Championships in free style.

Career

Fatih Çakiroglu grew up in Istanbul and began at the age of 7 years in 1988 with the rings. He was trained by his father Enis Çakiroglu, his first club was the Sports Club GOPAS Güres Kulubü Istanbul. As an adult, he joined the Turkish army and became a member of the sports club Amasya Seker Spor. He wrestles exclusively in free style.

In the junior level he dominated his weight class in Turkey for several years and launched between 1997 and 2001 in seven international championships ( Junior World and European Championships ) in the light heavyweight or heavyweight. A medal win did not succeed there.

The node was bursting at Fatih Çakiroglu only in the year 2002, when heavyweight with four victories he won a European Championship bronze medal at the European Championship in Baku. This medal he won with a victory over Wadym Tassoew from Ukraine. At the World Cup 2002 in Tehran, he lost his first fight against equal Eldari Luka Kurtanidse from Georgia, who was this year and in 2003 world champion in this weight class. Because of the then applicable regulations peculiar to him then took advantage of a win in his next fight on Bartolomiej Bartnicki from Poland little. He retired after the second round and was only on the 14th Place.

In the 2003 World Cup but he did not play.

2004 Fatih Çakiroglu won the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Athens in Bratislava with a 2nd place behind Magomed Ibragimov of Uzbekistan a place at these games. A medal won Fatih Çakiroglu then again at the 2005 European Championships in Varna. After victories over Radovan Valach and Tomasz Janiszewski from Poland was defeated in the semi-final against Vincent Aka Akesse from France, but defeated in the battle for the bronze medal Vasily Tesmenezki from Ukraine. He had less luck at the World Championships this year in Budapest, because he lost there in his second fight against Bartolomiej Bartnicki and therefore only reached the 14th place.

In 2006, Fatih Çakiroglu decided to switch the focus to go to the permanent detraining out of the way can. He defeated Arjan Bhullar there from Canada, Efstathios Topalidis from Greece and Marid Mutalimow from Kazakhstan and only lost in the semifinals against Biljal Valeryevich Machów from Russia. The fight for the bronze medal he lost narrowly to Wadym Tassoew.

In the years 2008 and 2009 Fatih Çakiroglu then were no inserts at major international championships more. Aydın Polatçı and Recep Kara secured in these years, the starting places Turkey in the heavyweight division. He participated in the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara part and won there in the heavyweight division before Arzoumanidis Ioannis from Greece and Francesco Miano Petta from Italy.

In 2010 he was again at the European Championships in Baku at the start and fought there with three wins in the final, in which he, however, the Olympic champion Biljal Machów subject. At the World Championships this year in Moscow, he was not so successful, because he lost his first fight there against Alexei Schemarow from Belarus and retired early. At the European Championships in Dortmund he finally managed a victory in one of the major international championships.
