At the beginning of 2010, Daniel Ligeti moved from the light heavyweight in the heavyweight division. After two victories, he lost there against the Olympic champion and multiple world champion Biljal Machów from Russia and also lost the battle for the bronze medal against Levan Berianidse from Georgia, but the 5th place he occupied it, is very respectable.

The first medal at an international championship he won at the 2011 European Championship in Dortmund. He defeated there Chadschimurad Istapajew from Belgium, lost against Fatih Cakiroglu from Turkey and fought afterwards with wins over Aleksander Chozianiwski, Ukraine and Nick Matuhin, Germany a bronze medal.
