History

The Ararat FC was founded in 1935. The name refers to Mount Ararat, which is the national symbol of the Armenians. Their most successful times the team had in the 1970s. In the 1973 season, she won under coach Nikita Simonyan, the Soviet double, consisting of Soviet and Soviet Cup championship. The last season of the Soviet Championship ended the team in seventh place.

After the independence of Armenia from the Soviet Union, they played in the newly founded Bardsragujn chumb. After two title wins in 1993 and 1995, as well as some gains of the Armenian Football Cup, the former top club lost its supremacy in Armenian football.

The Ararat extremely weak runny season 2011 is finished on the bottom of the table ( only two victories, 22 defeats).
