The few talents that still made the breakthrough, therefore, had to be sold far below the actual market value. It was also the long-time club sponsor, the local ironworks, taken over by the Mittal Steel Company in 2004, which also had a reduction in the financial appropriations.

In November 2004 Corvinul was excluded from the Championship in 2004 /05 because he player and coach salaries in the amount of 48,000 Euro was unable to pay outstanding and also owed 250,000 euros to the Romanian state. Since no investor was found to pay these sums, the club was disbanded. Instead, the local authorities established under the leadership of Mayor Nicolae Schiau and with the financial support of the scrap iron dealer Florin Uscatu in the summer of 2005 a new club called FC Corvinul 2005 Hunedoara. This took over the second league start right from CS Deva and received from the city the rights to use the Stadionul Michael Klein, so that Corvinul could go into the following season 2005/ 06 under new coach Ioan Petcu.

At the end of the 2007/08 season under coach followed Florea Văetuş the descent into the League III. The Romanian Football Federation said in August 2008 Mircea Alic, former President of Corvinul Hunedoara, the naming rights to Corvinul to. The leadership of the current association appealed against this decision, which was accompanied by a claim for damages in the amount of 400,000 euros, so it initially did not come to a renaming of the club. On 24 August 2008, the former coach of the 2005/06 season, Ioan Petcu, appointed as the new coach of the junior team consisting mainly of, Văetuş became his assistant coach. However, in September 2008, the club had to cease the operation of gambling before the 7th round of the League III, since debt in the amount of 3,000 euros to former player Attila Vajda and Doru Şerban could not be settled. On 28 October 2008, Corvinul pulled at the behest of Florin Uscatu final of the championship back, the results of all matches played so far have been canceled.
