Ferrera

Ferrera (Romansh Farera ) is a municipality in the district Ferreratal Hinter Rhine in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

It was created on 1 January 2008 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Innerferrera (Romansh Calantgil ) and Ausserferrera (Romansh Farera ).

The municipal area an exclave is one of the Italian Valle di Lei, which was defined by the dam of the Lago di Lei around and before the merger was part of the territory of Innerferrera.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In the right diagonal of silver ( white) and black divided shield a right diagonal asked Bergmann Hammer ( pimples) in reversed colors.

The new coat of arms combines the coat of arms of the two former municipalities in the diagonally divided shield. The eminent in addition to and Innerferrera mining led to the election of the Bergmann hammer as crest motif for both communities in the colors of the church covenant.
