Fort Atkinson is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, Fort Atkinson had 12,368 inhabitants.
Geography
Fort Atkinson is located in the central southeastern Wisconsin on the Rock River, a left tributary of the Mississippi. The Lake Koshkonong, a reservoir of the Rock River is located a few kilometers southwest of Fort Atkinson.
The geographic coordinates of Fort Atkinson are 42 ° 55'44 " north latitude and 88 ° 50'13 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 15.07 km ² and is completely surrounded by the Town of Koshkonong, but does not belong to this.

Traffic
The four-lane Wisconsin State Highway 26 forms the western bypass of Fort Atkinson. Through the center runs from northwest to southeast of U.S. Highway 12 of the 89 runs with the Wisconsin State Highway here on a section of track shared. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.

With the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport is located 4.5 km north-northeast of the city center in an enclave of the city limits of Fort Atkinson, a small airfield.
