Franz Keller

Franz Keller ( born January 19, 1945 in Nesselwang ) is a former German nordic combined and ski jumping.

Keller began his career as a special Springer 1966, winning the gold medal at the German Championships. In 1967, he took second place in the competition in Innsbruck in the Four Hills Tournament. A short time later he moved to the combiners.

He won in 1968 the gold medal in the Nordic combined at the Olympic Games in Grenoble. In the same year he was elected to Germany's Sportsman of the Year.

1965 Keller won at the German Junior Championships in Meßstetten before Klaus Ganter. The very next year he succeeded the first major international success, he finished at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1966 behind Georg Thoma second place. In 1973 he was awarded the Holmenkollen medal.
