Funtana

Funtana (Italian Fontane = Fountain) is a coastal village and a municipality in Istria County, Croatia. The community has 2011 907 inhabitants according to the census. The small town Funtana got its name from the well water resources in the region, which were first mentioned in records in 1331. Although these sources are no longer used, so leave today for water channels from the Roman period found at the sources. Worth seeing is the parish church of St. Bernard with its valuable oil paintings, which was built in 1621. In the center there is the well-known Kastel fortress, which was built in 1610.
