Gelliehausen is a town in the same district of Göttingen. The scattered village has 450 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2010). Local mayor is Brigitte Wagener.

Just southwest of Gelliehausen rise the same, a 430 meter high mountain pair.

Since 2009 Gelliehausen belongs together with Beienrode, Benniehausen, Kerstlingerode, Rittmarshausen and Wöllmarshausen to a church organization with the name " Lutheran. Parish Association Upper Gartetal ".

The altarpiece in the church was created by the artist Johannes Heisig in 2002.

History

During the 17th century Gelliehausen was part of the Old Patrimonialgerichts same in Welf Duchy of Brunswick -Lüneburg. Personalities

• Gottfried August Bürger (1747-1794), poet, worked from 1772 to 1784 as a steward in the office building in Gelliehausen. He lived from 1772 to 1773 in Gelliehausen and 1774-1784 in Wöllmarshausen.
