Georgian Football Federation

The Georgian Football Federation (Georgian საქართველოს ფეხბურთის ფედერაცია - სფფ, Sakartwelos Pechburtis Pederazia - SPP) is the Association of Georgian football clubs. He organized the Regional and the National League (Georgian Umaghlessi League ) and the Georgian national football team. Its seat is Tbilisi.

The association was founded in 1990, after Georgia had leaked from the Soviet league. Since 1992 he has been a member of FIFA and UEFA.

Scandals

In April 2005, the Georgian Football Federation has been shaken by an embezzlement scandal. President Merab Schordania was forced to resign after he was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement of funds of the club Dinamo Tbilisi in the amount of one million U.S. dollars. He came four months later released without trial, paid for the state several hundred thousand GEL, which should have corresponded to the amount of embezzled money from him. The exact amount was not disclosed.

Schordania had already sat from December 2003 to January 2004 for tax evasion in prison, but could initially remain in office on. Even then he bought free to the public treasury paid around $ 340,000.
