Germany women's national ice hockey team

The German women's national ice hockey team is a decision taken by the federal trainer selection of German players. It represents the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) at the international level, for example in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the Winter Olympics and the MLP Nations Cup.

History

The first international match of the women was held on December 3, 1988 in Geretsried against Switzerland. The DEB - selection was subject to the guests with 5:6, celebrated the first victory but in the next game against the same opponents. To date, the women's national team has completed 307 games, with 136 wins, 26 draws and 145 defeats. (Updated: November 28, 2008).

First time in 1990 took a German women's team participated in a World Ice Hockey Championships and finished in Ottawa, Canada in seventh place among a total of eight participating teams. By 2008, the team entered without interruption at the A World Cup, when taking place in this years tournament in Harbin, China, DEB women, however, occupied the ninth and last place and thus increased for the first time in the association history in the second class Division I from.

In 2002, the German women's national team qualified for the first time an Olympic hockey tournament at the Games in Salt Lake City, the team took sixth place. In Turin in 2006, the team was able to again improve a place, in November 2008, it failed, however, in a played out in Bad Tolz qualifying tournament for the 2010 Games in Vancouver, Canada. In February 2013 you could in the decisive qualifying tournament prevail against China, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
