Gervasio Deferr

Gervasio Deferr Angel ( born November 7, 1980 in Premia de Mar, near Barcelona ) was the most successful Spanish artistic gymnast.

The World Gymnastics Championships 1999 in Tianjin, he won silver in the floor exercise. A year later at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he could not qualify for the finals in the floor exercise, but only for the final at the horse jump. With 9.712 points he won gold and became the first Spanish gymnast who won an Olympic gold medal in front of him had only 1996 won the Spanish team in the rhythmic gymnastics.

In the World Gymnastics Championships in Debrecen 2002, he finished second in the floor exercise, but was later disqualified after traces of marijuana were discovered in the doping test. In 2004 he successfully defended his title in the horse jump at the Olympic Games in Athens with 9,737 points. The World Gymnastics Championships 2007 in Stuttgart, he won silver in the floor exercise. Also on the ground won silver Deferr at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Deferr takes occasional guest starring roles in Spanish TV shows on, in which he presents to his fans.
