Giro del Mendrisiotto

The Giro del Mendrisio is a bicycle race in the south of Switzerland. The one-day race takes place (Canton Ticino) in the district of Mendrisio. First edition of the race was in 1933, since then it is regularly almost every year. Only during the Second World War, the racing was discontinued a long time. Until 1995 it was an amateur race and from 2002 to 2004, a race in the U23 category. From 2005 to 2011 it was part of the UCI Europe Tour and had the 1.2 category. Since 2012, there will again be held as a national event. Record winner is Gilbert Glaus, who won the race three times.
