Richard Trinkler

Richard Trinkler ( born August 22, 1950 in Sirnach ) is a retired Swiss cyclist who in 1984 won an Olympic silver medal. His home club is the RV Winterthur.

Trinkler finished 1976 third in the Grand Prix Tell and first participated in the Olympic Games. 1978 won Trinkler along with Gilbert Glaus, Kurt Ehrensperger and Stefan Mutter bronze in the team time trial at the World Championships at the Nurburgring, in the road race of amateurs Trinkler occupied the fourth place. 1979 won Trinkler at the Swiss road Championships and the Grand Prix Tell. In 1980 he won two stages of the Tour of Austria. At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, he finished in the team time trial on the 14th place in the individual race, he came as 29 to the finish.

After a weaker 1981, he won the 1982 World Cycling Championships in Goodwood his second World Cup medal, along with Alfred Achermann, Daniel Heggli and Urs Zimmermann, he received the silver medal behind the Dutch Quad. In 1983 he won the first driver of the Grand Prix Tell for the second time, he also won in 1983 with three more races: At the Giro del Mendrisio, the Grand Prix in Lancy and at the Schynberg Tour. 1984 Trinkler won a stage of the Tour of Austria. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, he drove in the team time trial along with Alfred Achermann, Laurent Vial and Benno Wiss to second place behind the Italians in single race reached Trinkler tenth the goal.

In the next two years Trinkler won some smaller races. In 1987 he then moved at the age of 36 years to the pros and occupied, among other space 61 of the Giro d' Italia. His most successful season in the pros was 1988 with wins at the Giro del Lago Maggiore and at the Tour de Luxembourg. In May 1989 Trinkler ended his cycling career.
