The XXII. 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow took place from 20th - instead of six competitions in cycling, July 28, 1980. The venue for the competitions in track cycling velodrome was the Krylatskoje.

Team time trial (101 km)
Participants: 23 teams Finale on July 20 The team time trial was held at the Moscow -Minsk highway. The track length was 101 km. The team of the USSR was all split times (25, 50 and 75 km) in front, and in the end won in an average speed of 49.933 km / h and 1:32 minutes ahead of the GDR. For the USSR it was the third Olympic gold medal in this discipline in a row. The team won the bronze medal for Czechoslovakia and was only 0.7 seconds behind the GDR. Italy finished fourth and Bulgaria to fifth place.
