Go Ahead Eagles

Go Ahead Eagles is a Dutch football club from Deventer.

History

The club was founded in 1902 as a Be Quick ( German: be Flink ) was founded. 1905, the name in Deventer Voetbalvereniging Go Ahead (forward ) has been changed. This is the name of the club four times football champion of the Netherlands: 1917 ( the Netherlands did not take in the First World War in part ), 1920 ( playoff 1-0 against Blauw Wit Amsterdam ), 1930 and 1933 1965 lost Go Ahead Cup final against Feyenoord Rotterdam. but took 1965/66 part of the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Since 1971, the club bears its present name, due to the nickname of the club ( the eagle is the heraldic symbol of the city of Deventer ). The club colors are red and yellow, the stadium is called " De Adelaarshorst. " The Go Ahead Eagles played most recently in the 1995/96 season in the Dutch Eredivisie. In the 2004/05 season the club played in the Eerste Divisie, the second highest Dutch league. Due to financial irregularities Go Ahead was punished with point deduction, finishing in 17th place among 19 teams. With the season 2013/2014 the club returns after 17 years back in the highest Dutch league (Eredivisie).
