Gonzalo " Gonzo " Castro Randon ( born June 11, 1987 in Wuppertal ) is a German footballer of Spanish descent.

Club career

Born in Wuppertal, began his career with the Post SV Wuppertal. Other stations during his youth and SV Bayer Wuppertal Victoria Rott.

In 1999 he moved to the youth of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. At age 17, he played his first games for the first team of Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. In his first year he was already on 13 missions and still standing from the 24th matchday in the grid. Although he had played in the 2005/06 season 21 times, he was only a reserve player especially in the second half of the season and was incidentally also used in the second team. As of 2006, Castro marched then from a defensive midfield in the defensive line of Leverkusen and played with solid performances in the starting eleven. Four years in a row he was largely undisputed. Only in the 2010/11 season him his place on the right-back Daniel Schwaab was disputed. This year, however, he also reached for the runner his biggest success in his time in the Bundesliga Bayer elf. Since the 2012/13 season Castro plays again in midfield.

National

In his youth, Castro was invited by the Spanish Football Federation to various courses. He denied a single match for a Spanish junior selection. Instead, he chose the age of 18, the future aground in the case of a nomination for the German Football Association.

In the three test caps at the beginning of 2006, Castro earned a place in the Germany squad for the finals of the U-21 European Championship in Portugal in 2006. There he delivered solid performances. His biggest footballing success was winning the U-21 European Championship 2009 in Sweden under national coach Horst Hrubesch. 4-0 victory in the final against England Castro scored in the 23 minutes the 1-0 hits.
