Göriach is one of the 15 municipalities in the district of Lungau, Salzburg in Austria with 359 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Göriach is located about 6 km north-west of the district capital Tamsweg and about 80 km southeast of the city of Salzburg. The municipal area is made of Göriach on the south side of the Schladming Tauern mountains and crossed by Göriachbach.

The municipality contains numerous peaks with a height of more than 2500 m above sea level. A., of which the Hochgolling with 2862 m above sea level. A. the highest is. Other prominent peaks are the Hocheck ( 2638 m above sea level. A. ) and the Kasereck ( 2740 m above sea level. A. ). Neighboring communities

Göriach borders in the north on the community Rohrmoos -Untertal, which lies in Liezen the province of Styria. From her Göriach is separated by the main Alpine ridge which is formed here by the Schladming Tauern. Neighboring community to the west is Mary parish, to the east Lessach. The border between the two communities is formed by the natural boundary of the Göriachtales. In the south, where the valley opens to Lungauer Taurach out Göriach borders Sankt Andra im Lungau.
