Görzke
Görzke is a municipality in the west of the Brandenburg district Potsdam- agent market. The municipality is part of the Office Ziesar.

Geography
The municipality is located in the High Görzke flaming in natural small park near the river Buckau, about 35 kilometers southwest of Brandenburg an der Havel. The western boundary of the municipality forms the border between Brandenburg and Saxony- Anhalt.

History
The first written mention of the town was in 1161 as Gorceke. The name comes from the Slavic period of Brandenburg, loud fishing village is on a mountain. Around 1250 Görzke became a town and was surrounded by a city wall. 1283 gave to the place its own jurisdiction and in 1285 the right to mint coins. Since 1680, the city belongs to the Brandenburg- Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg and was in what was then Jerichower circle.
Görzke has a long tradition as a Handwerkerort. 1706, the potters of the village joined together to form a guild and supplied the surrounding villages and towns with pottery. This tradition can be seen in the pottery market every year. This market always takes place on Easter Saturday and Sunday.
1891 took place in the space Görzke and the west or north-west neighboring areas the autumn maneuvers of the Berlin Guards Corps instead. A little later, the decision to invest and build from Truppenübungsplatz Altengrabow was hit.
In a doll factory of the town in the late 1950s has made the figure of the Sandman.
In the forest between Görzke and Reppinichen a metalworking state-owned company from Leipzig had built an operating summer camp for the children of his staff operating in GDR times.

Structures
Striking building in the village is the Protestant village church, a late Romanesque stone building from the second half of the 12th century. The church was situated at the entrance of the former castle of the likewise completely eroded city wall.
Music
The place is known for the resident band of the volunteer fire department, which was established in 1975.

Traffic
Through the village leads the federal highway 107 Görzke had until 1973 (passenger ) or to 1994 ( freight) rail link across the railway line Wusterwitz - Görzke. The preserved remains of the route, including one parked in Görzke station diesel, are national monuments. Between Ziesar and Görzke runs since 2011 a bike lane on the road.
