Gothenburg and Bohus County

Göteborgs och Bohus Lan was a Swedish province, which existed until 1998. In 1998, the province with the provinces Skaraborgs County, Älvsborgs longer on in the newly formed county of Västra Götaland County. The former residence was Gothenburg, which was a part of the administration in Uddevalla. The countries had been assigned to the letters ( länsbokstav ) O, which is now used by Västra Götaland County on.

Geography

To the north it borders on the Fylke Østfold in Norway, there partially separated by the Svinesund and Idefjord. In the east it borders the counties of Dalsland and Västergötland and Halland in the south. The three largest islands in the west adjacent Kattegat Orust, Rambergsvallen and Tjörn.

History

The limits to 1998 voted largely in line with those that have been drawn in the 17th century when ordering. Bohuslän in 1680 was merged with the city of Gothenburg and the surrounding Harden Sävedal, Askim and Östra Hising and received two years later Göteborgs och Bohus the new name longer.
