Government of Russia

The Government of the Russian Federation (Russian Правительство Российской Федерации / Transcription: Prawitelstwo Rossijskoi Federazii ) in Russia is the highest executive institution in the system of government. Your status (Article 110-117 ) codified the Russian Constitution in chapter 6. The head of government is the Prime Minister of Russia, also referred to as Prime Minister.

General

The Government of the Russian Federation is composed of the Prime Minister as head of government, the Deputy Prime Minister ( Deputy Prime Minister ) and ministers together. The government is subordinate part of the state system of the ministries as well as the so-called federal services and federal agencies. These include, for example, the financial, the transport, health and the Ministry of Education. Another part of this system is in turn directly to the president, including that of interior, the exterior and the Department of Defense. In this case, all ministers are members of the government, regardless of who is under the respective Ministry.

The Prime Minister is nominated by the President under Article 111 of the Constitution and must be confirmed by the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament. Discards the Duma three times consecutively drawn up by the President from candidates, the President has the right to dissolve the Duma and to order new elections.

The tasks of the Government of the Russian Federation, according to Article 114 of the Constitution the following:

  • Preparation of the state budget, its submission to the Duma to confirm as well as accountability to the Duma regarding the use of the state budget;
  • Implementation of federation -wide financial, credit and monetary policy;
  • Implementation of unified state policy in the field of culture, science, education, health, social care and environmental protection;
  • Management of state property;
  • Measures for the enforcement of existing legislation, granting the rights and freedoms of citizens, monitoring of property and public order, combating of crime;
  • Exercise of other powers according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws and decrees of presidential.

Current composition

The current composition of the Russian government has existed since May 21, 2012. It was formed shortly after the inauguration of former president Medvedev as prime minister. Until the appointment of the new government the old cabinet remained provisionally in office. Some members, including the Foreign Minister Lavrov maintained even after the change of government in their posts.
