The Greek national ice hockey team of men led after the World Cup 2011 in the IIHF World Ranking at number 44. Current coach is Igor Apostolidis.

History

The Greek national ice hockey team took first time in 1992 in an official tournament, as they at the C2 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa, and took the third place in their group. After three years, in which Greece failed to qualify for the World Cup, they reached the 9th place in 1995 at the C2 World Cup, before again followed a three-year period without World Cup. 1998 and 1999, Greece reached respectively the eighth and last place thus in D World Cup before nine years followed without World Cup. After this pause, Greece joined in 2008, the D- World Cup, where they were first fourth fifth and one year later. Due to the global economic crisis, the Division III World Cup 2010, which was originally to be held in Greece was moved to Luxembourg. The Greek Association gave financial problems as the reason for the cancellation. Nevertheless, the Greeks second in the group with two wins were promoted behind Ireland. 2011 then the low point in the Greek Hockey has been reached. The Greeks conceded high double-digit losses and ended the World Cup tournament of Division III with a goal difference of 7:79 (!) In four matches played ( and a 5-0 rating for Greece because of the no-show of Mongolia ) from.
