The Portuguese national ice hockey team represents the Federação Portuguesa de Desportos no Gelo, the skating association in Portugal, in ice hockey at the international level.

History

After Portugal had joined the International Ice Hockey Federation in 1999, it was from the beginning aspirations in addition to Inline Hockey National Team, to establish a national ice hockey team. For this reason, organized the Federação Portuguesa de Desportos no Gelo in June 2000 in collaboration with the Canadian Embassy in Portugal, a tournament during which the Portuguese national team - mostly consisting of inline hockey players and from emigrated to Canada Portuguese consisting of - their first three test matches against a selection of Canada, composed of members of the First Portuguese Canadian Cultural Centre of Toronto - denied.

Subsequently, the national team played so far, however, no new game, where there efforts are always to reaktvieren the national team, as exists in Canada, the birthplace of hockey, a very large Portuguese community.
