Greg Foster (hurdler)

Gregory ( " Greg" ) Foster ( born April 4, 1958 in Chicago ) is a former American track and field athlete. He was three times world champion in the 110- meter hurdles.

Life

Foster was one of the outstanding 110 -meter hurdles sprinters of the 1980s. He was the great rival of Renaldo Nehemiah, Roger Kingdom, Mark McKoy and Colin Jackson. They provided over ten years competitions at the major international events. While Kingdom twice Olympic champion in 1984 and 1988, Foster was denied this, he won the 1984 Silver Medal and in 1988 was injured. However, he dominated mainly at World Athletics Championships and was at the World Championships in 1983, 1987 and 1991 World Champion. 1990 were found in a drug test at Foster pseudoephedrine, ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine, after which he was banned for three months.

1987 Foster improved the World indoor record in the 60 meter hurdles in 7.36 s, which he still ranks in third place of the all-time best list. 1985 Foster undercutting in 6.35 s the indoor world record 50 meter hurdles, before Mark McKoy replaced him the following year as world record holder. Foster's best time in 110 meters hurdles he presented in 1981 at the Athletics - sports festival in Zurich, when he was in a memorable race in the wake of the current world record Nehemiah to 13.03 s improved. This performance was at that time the second fastest time around the world and today is ranked 17 of the eternal summer leaderboard.

At a height of 1.90 m was to his playing days his weight 85 kg. Greg Foster was in the early 80's in a relationship with Florence Griffith Joyner.
