Grodzisko, Strzelce County

Grodzisko ( German: Grodisko ) is a town in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodship.

Geographical Location

Grodzisko located 10 kilometers north of the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 24 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 126 voters voted to remain in Germany and 228 for Poland. Grodisko remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 704 inhabitants in the village. On July 4, 1936, the town was renamed in the courtyard. 1939, the place had 775 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Grodzisko and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
