Rozmierka

Rozmierka ( German: Rosmierka ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Rozmierka located eight kilometers north of the municipal center and the county town of Strzelce and 28 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1413. 1736 a Catholic school was founded. 1832 was the place in the hands of Count von Strachwitz Hyacinth. 1865 had the place at that time also written Rosmirka, 20 farmers, 22 gardeners and 29 cottagers.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 181 voters voted to remain in Germany and 315 for Poland. Rosmierka remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1102 inhabitants in the town. On April 15, 1936, the city was renamed in Great Maßdorf. In 1939 the place 1156 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Rozmierka and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954, from 1973 to 1975 was Rozmierka seat of the municipality Rozmierka. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki. During the first Maypole erection in Rozmierka since the end of World War II in May 2012, the new coat of arms of the town was presented. It contains elements from the old parish seal.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms, which was first introduced in May 2012, shows three line flower, a white dove and a crown. The crown refers to the farm and to the earlier aristocratic Count or owner of the place. The canvas flowers and pigeon based on the old parish seal. This points to the agricultural character of the place.
