Dziewkowice

Dziewkowice ( German Schewkowitz ) is a town in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship, Poland.

Geography

Geographical Location

Dziewkowice located four kilometers northeast of the municipal center and the county town of Strzelce and 33 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 that 86 voters to remain in Germany and 405 for Poland. In Good Schewkowitz 21 people voted for Germany and 81 for Poland. Schewkowitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1120 inhabitants in the town. On 3 July 1936, the town was renamed in Frauenfeld. In 1939 the place 1233 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945, the German far place to Poland and was renamed Dziewkowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the City of Opole Voivodeship, in 1999 came to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
