Brzezina, Strzelce County

Brzezina ( German: Bresina ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Brzezina is located four kilometers southeast of the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 35 kilometers southeast of the voivodship Opole.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1223 as " Bresini ".

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 41 voters to remain in Germany and 27 for Poland. Bresina remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 124 inhabitants in the village. On September 26, 1935 the town was renamed in Lower Birches. On September 1, 1936 community and place low birch trees were incorporated into the city big Strehlitz. 1939, the place had 131 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Brzezina and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. At 1 January 1962 Brzezina ausgemeindet was out of town Strzelce and incorporated into the parish Strzelce. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
