Osiek, Opole Voivodeship

Osiek ( German: Oschiek ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Geographical Location

Osiek located 10 kilometers north of the municipal center and the county town of Strzelce and 28 kilometers east of the voivodship Opole.

Neighboring towns of Osiek in the West Kadłubski Piec ( blast furnace ), in the north Carmerau ( Spórok ) and Great Stanisch ( Staniszcze Wielkie ) and in the south Jędrynie ( Jendrin ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 42 voters to remain in Germany and 247 for Poland. Oschiek remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 489 inhabitants in the village. On 3 September 1936, the place in Karlstal / Upper Silesia has been renamed. 1939, the place had 531 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Osiek and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
