The community Großsölk with 484 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) located in the upper Enns ( Judicial District Schladming ) in Styria.

Geography

Großsölk located in Liezen - Expositur Groebming in the Austrian province of Styria. The municipality is located since 1983 in the Natural Park Sölktäler, which is one of the five Styrian Nature Park.

There are no other cadastral except Großsölk. Villages are Stein an der Enns, Gatschberg and Großsölk.

History

Großsölk was the seat of a fundamental rule. The abolition of the manorial system was carried out in 1848; the local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Culture and sights

As the sights standing isolated on a rock parish church, which was rebuilt from 1730-1740 a horse stable, and the former Großsölker castle are built in the 15th and 16th century, which today houses the Nature Park House.

In addition, to find Großsölk is the built in 1978 and by the Energie Steiermark ( Day) powered storage power plant Sölk. It makes the year 206 GWh of electricity and can store 1.4 million cubic meters of water.
